Recorded at Levon Helm Studios, Woodstock, NY

" * * * * ...these guys could strip down the engine of a soulbluesmobile and put it back together blindfold."
– MOJO, Blues Album of the Month, October 2008

"Bergson's stirring voice and glorious guitar command immediate attention."
- BLUES REVUE

"Gut-busting, horn-bedecked NY blues."
- MOJO
"Gowanus Heights" #5 on The MOJO Playlist, December 2007

"This magnificent collection by Chris Bergson, recorded at Levon Helm’s Woodstock studios, follows The Band in drawing intuitively and seamlessly from blues, country, folk, funk, soul and jazz.  Bergson has the kind of voice that can be sepia-tinted, whiskey soaked or nicotine stained to fit the requisite style and mood, standing alongside Gregg Allman, Dr. John, Van Morrison and Danko / Helm.  A neatly balanced set of self-penned numbers and entirely justified covers (‘Are You Experienced’ is a revelation!) are immaculately played by a tight and energetic band complimenting excellent guitar work with washes of organ and honking sax.  Crisply but roundly produced, Fall Changes is an undeniable pointer to a talent with major league potential."
- LEICESTER BANGS (UK)

"Chris Bergson is a serious talent.  Bergson gives early notice to the listener on the album's opening cut, 'Gowanus Heights', of his prowess as both a performer and songwriter.  With a horn section that would do the old Stax crew proud, Bergson lures the listener into his world of jazz influenced blues and doesn't let up until the final cut... both jazzy and bluesy with a slight dash of rock and massive amounts of melody, Fall Changes is a treat."
- LIVING BLUES

“It takes a confident musician to pack his band with some of the hottest players in New York City, but singer/songwriter/guitarist Chris Bergson is equal to the company he keeps.  Starting with the rocking “Gowanus Heights” from his recently released album Fall Changes, the young virtuoso took charge of the stage.  He growled out the vivid lyrics about Brooklyn street life and launched a series of dazzling flights of fancy on the guitar, playing as organically as if the instrument were a third arm.”
- BLUES REVUE

"Chris Bergson plays the kind of guitar you can build a house on…it's B.B. meets Steve Cropper meets John Scofield."
- ROLL Magazine

"Fresh and inventive...a tour de force."
- ELMORE

"Seriously street-smart songwriting and Allman-esque vocal prowess..."
- GIBSON.COM

“Rootsy and funky...brilliant playing from the Chris Bergson Band...highly recommended!"
- THE BAND WEBSITE

"A small masterwork...a candidate for year's best."
- ROOTSTIME

"Tremendous!"
- BLUES MATTERS (UK)

"One of the best things I have heard this year...a sound rooted in blues - but diverse enough to have jazzy and classic rock leanings."
- BLUES IN THE NORTHWEST (UK)

“Chris Bergson is a dynamic, masterful guitar player...one of the most impressive new blues releases I’ve heard in years.”
- OLD BLUE BUS

“Bergson’s enthusiasm pours forth with a message that ranges from James Brown to James Taylor. Funk, soul, blues, folk and delectable jazz come together seamlessly.”

Jim Santella, All About Jazz

“On Another Day, Chris Bergson makes his thin-line Gibson sound fat and funky in true Big Easy style, pays tribute to Curtis Mayfield with sweet double-stops, and picks angular blues-bop lines like a tightly wound New York hipster. Bergson has tone and vibe to spare."

 – Andy Ellis, Guitar Player

"Bergson's vocals are warm and personal. 'Come and Gone' simmers; gorgeous ballads 'Another Day' and 'High Above the Morning' are deep country soul."

– Tom Hyslop, Blues Revue

"Bergson is accompanied by a stellar band whose musical acumen provides the perfect foil for Bergson's deeply soulful baritone vocals and dynamic fretwork. which melds the influences of Wes Montgomery and T-Bone Walker to perfection. A hugely talented artist."

  – Mick Rainsford, Blues in Britain

"Versatile, inspired playing, with vocals to match."

–Sean McDevitt, Guitar One

The Chris Bergson Band’s new CD Another Day (2 Shirts Records) draws on the rich legacy of American Roots music. Consisting of seven original compositions and one tune by blues legend Son House, the eight songs on this recording deftly navigate the country blues, soul jazz, and rock genres to create a vibrant sound that is gritty, exuberant, and honest.

Led by Bergson’s soulful vocals and ferocious guitar, the Chris Bergson Band takes the heart of the Delta blues and stretches it into new forms. From the swampy opening grooves of “Come and Gone” to the country ballad “High Above the Morning” to Bergson’s moving solo tune “Three Sisters,” inspired by the music of Skip James, Chris Bergson is forging a new path. While encompassing a wide variety of styles, the Chris Bergson Band keeps the space and big beat of the Delta blues at its core. All American music with soul and groove – from Ray Charles to The Band to Jimi Hendrix – has the sound of the Delta at its center, and that’s the sound that runs through Another Day.

This past August, on the heels of his triumphant engagement at the BLUE NOTE, Chris decided it was time to properly record his original Blues material, choosing the intimacy of the club in which he felt most at home. SMOKE Club owner Paul Stache set up mics and baffles and the ensuing five song CD, CHRIS BERGSON - BLUES is the result. With hard grooving support from drummer MATT WILSON and B-3 Organist Brian Charette, the five song CD is the answer to repeated requests from fans who wanted a CD featuring Chris' heartfelt and soulful vocals with the energy and intensity of Bergson's live shows.

Sad Strains for a Gay Waltz (1.0 MB)

Chris' impressive debut CD for the Juniper Records label was recorded when the guitarist was only 19 years old. It features Chris backed by the expert
rhythm sections of bassists Dwayne Burno and Neal Miner, drummers Greg Bandy and Joe Strasser, and also features tenor saxophonist Doug White on two tracks. Highlights include the first version of Bergson's original composition "Sad Strains" which has since become a staple of the Chris Bergson Trio's live repertoire. An impromtu suggestion from producer, Doug White, to "just play some blues" became the album's title track. You can hear some of Bergson's key influences displayed during this impromptu soulful Blues - his playing evokes everything from Jimi Hendrix to Charlie Parker to Wes Montgomery. Jim Fisch, of Twentieth Century Guitar Magazine stated in his review of the album, "With his first release, Bergson proves himself ready for the big time."
